Must have cards in BP04!

A new set is upon us, check out what cards you MUST pick up for each class

In addition to the Code Geass cards, there's also some meta breaking cards you'll want to pick up!

Forestcraft

Forest gets a massive buff this expansion, so loosen your wallets, we're going in.

First of all, King Elephant is a must-have card! Fortunately, it's only a Gold rare, so you'll want to pick up 3 copies of the Base Form and at least one copy of the evolved version. It's a powerful win condition that takes over Silver Bolt's role as a finisher in Forestcraft.

You'll also want to pick up 3 copies of the silver rare, Sukuna, as well as 2 copies of its evolve. It serves as a powerful tempo tool with Storm, and is also used in future sets.

Cassiopeia is the main legend you're going to want a few copies of in Forest. It has great stats and the potential to clear even the most troublesome boards just by itself.

The other cards you'll want to pick up include Ivy Spellbomb, Elf Song, Starry Elf, Spring-Green Protection, Elfsong and Nelchas. While these cards are not necessarily used in every Forest deck, you'll want access to these as either tech options, and when they are situationally strong in various sets. Plus, they're mostly going to be cheap!

On the plus side, Forest doesn't really need any of the neutral cards, but you can get them if you want.

Havencraft

Tier 1 Egg is a go! This is going to be the best Haven deck in set 4. All you need to pick up is the Gold Rare, Andromeda, which protects your board from Humpty Dumpty nuking itself, clearing your opponent's field while forcing them to respond.

You'll also want to do some future planning by picking up Globe of the Stairways, which is a great tutor card for amulets, and Aether of the Whitewing, a strong consistency tool for many different haven lists.

While you can try to cook with some of the other cards released, these are the three key cards Haven players should look out for in this set.

Runecraft

Honestly, Runecraft still isn't that great this set (we're getting really close), but Giant Chimera is going to give you that dopamine fix you've been craving. You can always give it a skip and play Dirt Rune for another expansion too.

For the most part, we recommend picking up the Spellchain package to focus on Giant Chimera. To do this, you'll want three copies of Giant Chimera as your primary finisher, three copies of Star Reader Stella as a consistency tool, 3 copies of Mystic Ring as a cheap spell, and three copies of Dazzling Healer for, well, healing.

On the Dirt Rune side, you'll definitely want to pick up Concentrations, and possibly the other dirt cards to play around with (Magic Illusionist, Mage of Nightfall, Starseer's Telescope, Astrologist of the Mist). They'll all be pretty cheap, so there's no real reason not to get them if you want to continue playing Dirt Rune.

For cooks in the kitchen, you can also consider Ginger, but your results will certainly.... vary.

Sword

Definitely pick up three copies of Perseus, as it's a powerful 1-cost that fits into a variety of different Sword decks. Armor of the Stars is also frequently seen as a 1-of in various sword lists too.

If you're playing Hero Sword, you might also want to pick up Flail Knight (it's just a 2-cost bronze tempo card).

Aside from that, the Arthurian package (Tristan/Round Table Assembly/Gawain) and Mars can be skipped, although they are playable during the BP04 meta specifically. If you're on a budget, Heroic Sword remains the best Sword deck this expansion.

Dragon

Pick up three copies of Sibyl of the Godwyrm. It has solid stats and healing, and its ability to ramp in overflow is not to be underestimated. You'll probably also want 1 copy of Lightning Blast to play around with, as well as a few Dragon's Nests, just in case.

Lævateinn Dragon, Defense Form is also worth picking up a copy or two. It's one of the better forms of Lævateinn Dragon, even though Armed is not going to be particularly strong for a while.

Discard Dragon gets a few new tools in Star Phoenix and Dragonewt's Fist, both of which love to be discarded and can provide bonus effects after the fact.

Prime Dragon Keeper is a fun and viable dragon archetype during BP04. You'll want to pick up Dragonrearer Matildas and Aqua Nereids.

You'll also want to pick up Grimnirs in general as they work well with Dragon's ability to ramp, as well as a single copy of Night's Way, which is sometimes used as a 1-of tech

Israfil and Zodiac Demon are also worthwhile pickups for Dragon (though far from compulsory), as the ramp allows you to play these cards a lot faster than other classes can!

Abyss

Necrocharge is the big winner of BP04 Abyss. In particular, you'll want to pick up three copies of Grave Desecration as a consistency tool, as well as three copies of Demonlord Eachtar, as a strong finisher option. In addition, you'll want copies of Israfil, as they can be reanimated with Death's Breath, a very powerful combo!

Howling Demon can be skipped, although it is playable in BP04 and BP05 for those that want to experiment with it. Goblin Princess is also worth looking at for aggro builds.

Medusa is a fun card to play around with, but don't break the bank for her, or the serpent package in the set, as they are quickly outscaled.

Final thoughts

Aside from the Code Geass collaboration, there's a lot of impactful cards to pick up for each class. While some have a short lifespan (viable during Bp04 but fall off), cards like Andromeda and King Elephant will impact the meta for a rather long time to come.
