Overview

Toward the end of BP05, Ignideus, one of the SVE: English Edition Ambassadors, Ignideus, hosted a $500 USD cash tournament, featuring a unique bo3 format with sideboard. This is the first high-profile SVE event with this format, which had (or should have) had an impact on the tournament meta.

However, interestingly, Egg Haven had the highest representation in the event, with 3 making top 8, although it was ultimately Mid Range Forest which triumphed over the competition for the 2nd 500 USD Tournament in a row. There were also 6 unique archetypes represented in the top 8. One of the most represented side board cards was Lyrial, with a few competitors opting not to bring a full side board.

Overall, the reception to the tournament was very positive. Players enjoyed the BO3 format in particular. Perhaps my only real feeling was that 10 cards in the sideboard was not quite enough, but everyone's mileage on that topic will vary.
